Some branches of the Marin County Free Library (such as the Civic Center Branch Library) have partnered with Mervyn's department stores for their "Go Places, Read" reading club which runs from April 1 - June 30, 2004.
Children 11 (5th grade) and under may visit either the library or their local Mervyn's store to receive a blue reading passport. The children must check out and read six LIBRARY books each month and enter the titles in their passport. The passport is then stamped and initialed at the library and taken back to Mervyn's. Three terrific monthly prizes are awarded: April: a lunch cooler, May: sports binoculars, and June: juggling balls. Stop by the library to get a shiny new library card if you don't already have one, a blank reading passport, and six books and you're on your way! |
