Download a Classic -- Digital Music from the Library

treble clef
Digital music downloads are now available from the library's online eBooks collection. From the library's databases & eBooks page, just click on the link for Digital Books, where you'll find 97 classical music titles from Naxos that can be accessed from the Califa Digital Library web site. The music is in the OverDrive Music Console format, and listening to it requires a download of free software, available on the site.

So how do you get started? Here are a few FAQs that might help:

What kind of music is available?

A variety of classical music, including ballet, chamber music, choral, concertos, instrumental, opera & operetta, and orchestral selections. You can browse the collection by selecting "All OverDrive Music" from the Califa home page.

Can the music be burned to CD?

No.

Can the music be transferred to a portable player?

Yes, if the portable player supports the Windows Media format.

Can the music be transferred to an iPod?

No.

Do I need to download new software to use the music titles?

OverDrive Music titles require the same software as OverDrive audio books: Windows Media Player (either version 9 or 10) and OverDrive Media Console (version 2). OverDrive Media Console is available as a free download from the Califa web site. If you are still running OverDrive Media Console version 1 and you are having problems with either the audio books or the music titles, please upgrade to version 2 before asking for support.

How do you get help with using the music titles?

The same as with the audio book titles. First, read and follow the installation, downloading, and troubleshooting instructions found under "Digital Library Help" on the Califa web site. If you are still having problems, follow the link "Please contact support..." on the "Digital Library Help" page, and click on the link for MARINet.
