Back to School

Homework Help
School's in session, but don't stress-- Homework Help is here! The library can connect you with the information you need. Now, whether you use a PC or a Mac, you can get help from online tutors through the free Library Homework Help service.

1. Go to http://www.marinlibrary.org/ and click on "Learn"
2. Look for the Homework Help icon
3. Enter your subject (English, math, social studies or science).
4. Enter your grade (4th through 12th).
5. And soon you will be chatting with a tutor!

The service is available from 1pm to 10 pm daily.

LAN Party at South Novato Library!

South Novato Library is the place to be for an End-of-Summer LAN Party on Wednesday, Aug. 29th at 5:30 pm. Try your hand at such fun challenges as Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution and other interactive computer games! Save room for pizza too! Detectives Solve the Case of Summer Reading

Detective of the Week
The summer has been filled with mystery at the Corte Madera Library. Did you "Get a Clue" playing the summer reading game? Congratulations to the many many kids who participated, including the eight detectives of the week. If you come to the Children's Room in the library, the eight detectives may be seen searching for clues in Harry Potter’s uncle’s house. It’s a ten-foot-long mural, drawn in pastels, by local artist Lynne Bergherm for the “Get a Clue” Summer Reading Program. The mural will be on display through September.

Computer Classes for Beginners at the Civic Center Library


The Civic Center Library is offering the following free computer classes in September! For more information, and to register for a class, please call 499-6058.



Email Basics
This class is designed for people who do not have an email account. It will cover how to read and send email.
Monday, September 10
9 a.m.- 10 a.m.

Beginning Internet
A professional librarian will instruct the Beginning Internet class and you will be provided with an orientation on how to navigate and search the Internet in this hour-long hands-on class.
Wednesday, September 12
9 a.m.- 10 a.m.

Opening and Sending Email Attachments
Learn to open an attachment that is emailed to you, and to attach a file to an email message to send to someone else. Access to an email account (Yahoo Mail is preferable but not required) and experience in receiving/sending email messages are required.

Storyteller Willy Claflin at Corte Madera Library

Willy Claflin, storyteller, and Maynard Moose Accompanied by his faithful sidekick Maynard Moose, Willy Claflin has brought his unhinged comedy and musical surprises to stages across the country and beyond, from California to Cape Clear Ireland. Come enjoy his stories at the Corte Madera Library on Thursday, August 9, 2007, at 7 p.m.


This program is for children age 3 and up, and is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Marin County Library.

Get a Clue- The Musical!

Singer/song-writer Gary Lapow from the Disney Channel presents "Get a Clue @ Your Library: The Musical!" at the Fairfax Library on Saturday, Aug. 11th at 11 am. Gary's special show for the 2007 summer reading program will stimulate the imaginations of preschool through elementary school age children (and their parents). The lively, interactive concert features songs of mystery, guessing games, and lots of laughter. All ages welcome!
