Speak Easy workshop at Fairfax Library

Afraid of speaking in front of groups? Me too! Let’s get some great tips and techniques on public speaking by attending “Speak Easy: An Experiential Workshop” presented by Lee Glickstein on Wednesday, January 16th from 6:45-8:45 pm at the Fairfax Library. Lee Glickstein is the author of “Be Heard Now!” and, whether you suffer from stage fright or simply want to speak with more impact, this workshop will help you learn how to improve your communication skills. Booking Ahead to 2008!

For 2008, here's a good resolution to consider: why not make 2008 the year you join one of Marin County Free Library's many Book Clubs to share an interesting book discussion with fellow readers! You can find a list of these Book Clubs on our website under "Events & Classes" or on the "Readers Corner" webpage. You can get a head start on the new year and read This Is Not Civilization by Robert Rosenberg, the Fairfax Book Club selection for January! Free Computer Classes at the Corte Madera Library!

computerThe Corte Madera Library is offering the following free computer classes in January and February of the new year. For more information, and to register for a class, please call (415) 924-6444.

Computer Basics
This class is for the complete computer beginner. You will learn about the parts of the computer, how to use the mouse, navigate the computer desktop, and open and close windows.
Thursday, January 3rd at 10 a.m.

Tuesday, February 12th at 10 a.m.

E-Mail Basics
This class is designed for people who do not have an e-mail account. We will set up a free e-mail account, and cover how to read and send e-mail.

Tuesday, Feb. 19th at 10 a.m.


Internet Basics
You will be provided with an orientation on how to navigate and search the Internet in this hour-long hands-on class.

Microsoft Word
Learn to create documents, use formatting tools and figure out how to do things like insert tables, all in a one-on-one tutoring session. Bring your questions!

Little Red's Holiday Adventures at the South Novato Library

Puppet Arts Theater returns to the South Novato Library on Tuesday, December 18th with the exciting story of Little Red's Holiday Adventures! This fun puppet show begins at 6 pm and will charm the whole family with happy Holiday twists added to the classic story of Little Red Riding Hood! 9th Annual Holiday Open House at Fairfax Library!

Come to the 9th Annual Holiday Open House at Fairfax Library on Saturday, Dec. 15th from 3-5pm for a rip-roarin’ good time with the Billy Boys, self-anointed kings of “AmeriCowboy” music! Disaster Preparedness @ the Civic Center Library



Are you ready for an earthquake or a fire? Learn how to be prepared for all types of emergencies at this free lunchtime program. Let the American Red Cross explain how to make a disaster plan, assemble disaster supplies, and how to stay safe when disaster strikes.

This hands-on class is designed to help you use the library catalog to find books in the library whether you have a lot of information or a little. Also we'll take a tour of NoveList, a database library cardholders can use to pinpoint fiction to read.

Opening and Sending Email Attachments

Hamilton and Military Times to come alive at the South Novato Library

Have you ever wondered what Hamilton was like when it was a military air field? If so, then be sure to come to the South Novato Library for a lively stroll down memory lane to Hamilton and Military Times! To explore Hamilton's earlier days, we’re holding a series of talks about what life was like at Hamilton in days gone by told by those who were there. This interesting and informative series of talks with veterans & others will take place Tuesdays at 2pm on Dec. 11th, Jan. 15th, Feb. 12th, and Mar. 18th.
